Project description: The project is a coordinated effort of key players in the Pannon Biogeographical Region (26 partners) to strengthen the resilience of the agricultural sector and the region's communities against the catastrophic effects of climate change.
Project goal: ClimaPannonia aims to drastically improve the climate resilience of the agricultural sector in the Pannon Biogeographical Region. By introducing innovative systemic solutions and facilitating cooperation among six countries within the region – Hungary, Serbia, Croatia, Romania, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia – ClimaPannonia paves the way towards a more sustainable and resilient agriculture. By harnessing the knowledge and expertise of the region's leading experts, as well as leveraging the knowledge of partners from countries such as Germany, Italy, and France, the ClimaPannonia project seeks to ensure that the implemented solutions benefit not only at the Pannon Biogeographical Region level but also in the EU.
NIÜ's project tasks: The project aims to prepare agriculture for climate change and strengthen its resilience, in which NIÜ, in addition to general communication and project management tasks,
- leads the work package for developing strategic roadmaps (policymaking / decision making support documents with key stakeholders involvement) - in the project's key "demonstrator" countries,
- and leads a smaller sub-task for developing an "engagement strategy" - prepares a plan for establishing contacts and "commitments" for cooperation with other projects and initiatives useful to the project
